We are slackers!

Sorry folks for our lack of posts. I wish I could say we have been busy working away on house projects, but alas, thats not the case. We did recently purchase a 1920’s butlers pantry and stripped most of the laquer paint off of the wood and hardware. Unfortunately, the summer heat is at its [...]

Art coming to the BeltLine, but first…

Blueberry plants have arrived

Our second project for Easter weekend was planting our blueberry plants from Waters Blueberry Farm. After two trips for Peat Moss and mulch (we underestimated the amount,) we have three plants that should yield blueberries all summer long! Kudos to Kevin for doing most of the work while I stained the bench.
We’ll keep you updated [...]

No rain, time to stain…

Since we had beautiful weather this Easter weekend, Kevin and I decided to tackle a few projects. First up to bat, staining a bench and table set that our dear friend Dee made for us as a wedding gift. I decided to go with “Barn Red” as my stain of choice, its also a sealant [...]

Welcome the newest addition to the Beecher family!

Driving to work one day last week, we spotted a little pup begging for food. His sweet little face caught my attention and I quickly looked at Kevin and said, “If that dog is there on the way home, we’re picking him up and finding a home for him.” Now, this happens on a semi-regular [...]

Spring is almost here: Time for the tour of homes!

Its a little more than a month away from West End’s annual Tour of Homes and Festival: West Fest.
The Festival will be held on the weekend of May 7th through the 9th, with a benefit concert at The Wren’s Nest to kick things off on Friday night. The Tour of Homes is not to be [...]

Spring is almost here. Hooray!

The weather this weekend was gorgeous! Staying indoors would have been a crime. Instead we headed to Home Depot for a few plants and planters so we could begin our spring planting. While we have big plans for a garden and a nicely landscaped yard this year,  we are still a few weeks away from [...]

Snow Day… well, days to be more accurate

We have had quite a winter in the South, so I thought I would share some pictures of our most recent snow. (We missed the first dusting while we were on our honeymoon, which we had hoped would also be the last dusting we would receive this year.) Alas, mother nature had other plans. The [...]

Update on Ol’ Burney and other happenings…

We posted awhile back that the burned up house across the street from us was purchased and that work had begun. We are pleased to announce that Ol’ Burney is almost finished being renovated. It has been converted from a double shotgun duplex to a single family home and has received a facelift. (Originally the [...]

Ol’ Burney gets renovated

Since moving in over a year ago, we have had a few neighboring houses fixed up and some new neighbors moving in. Still, our street has remained pretty vacant, especially the burned up house directly across the street from us. Its been up for auction many times with quite a few people who have supposedly [...]
